Neighbourhood Priorities Statement
In Spring 2026, Camborne Town Council resolved to proceed with the development of a Neighbourhood Priorities Statement (NPS) for Camborne Parish.
What is a Neighbourhood Priorities Statement?
Neighbourhood Priorities Statements (NPS) are short 10-15 page documents that set out local priorities for growth, change and investment. They are community-led, and supported by the local Council. They are documents that do not contain planning policies but are intended to be considered with Cornwall Council considers the new Local Plan.
Neighbourhood Priorities Statements are a simpler alternative to Neighbourhood Development Plans (NDPs) and they focus on local priorities including: development and land use, housing needs, natural environment, economy, public spaces, infrastructure and local facilities.
Co-production and Consultation
Camborne Town Council intends for this project to be entirely co-produced with the community. In addition to public consultation processes along the way, the Council would like to invite interested members of the public to join the Neighbourhood Priorities Statement Working Party (first meeting in September 2026) to help steer the project forward.

Timeframes
The NPS has a strict timeframe in order to be taken into account with Cornwall Council develops and drafts the new Cornwall Local Plan.

The Local Plan
Camborne’s Neighbourhood Priorities Statement is intended to inform the development and drafting of Cornwall Council’s Local Plan.
The Cornwall Local Plan 2050 will help shape the future of Cornwall and provide the framework for managing development, support sustainable communities and tackle climate change. It will protect our natural and historic environment and deliver the homes, jobs and infrastructure needed for the future.
Cornwall Council has a number of active public consultations regarding planning and development topics.
