Councillor Vacancy

Following the resignation of Cllr Michael Champion, a vacancy has arisen in the Office of Councillor for Camborne Town Council. Please download the official Notice Of Vacancy pdf below for further details.

If a request for an election to fill said vacancy is made in writing (by hand or post) to the Principle Election Officer by TEN electors for the said Town Ward, an election would be held.

The Principle Election Officer received no request for election before 16th October 2025, thereby giving permission for Camborne Town Council to fill the vacancy as soon as practicable, by co-option, as provided for by Rule 8 of the Local Elections (Parishes and Communities) Rules 1986.

The Town Council may co-option as a member any person who is legally qualified to hold such office, and who is willing to serve, provided they satisfy at least one of the following qualification categories:

(a) is registered as a local government elector for the parish;
(b) has during the whole of the preceding twelve months occupied as owner or
tenant, any land or premises in the parish;
(c) his/her principal or only place of work during the preceding twelve months has
been in the parish;
(d) had during the whole of the preceding twelve months resided in the parish or
within 4.8 km thereof.

 

Casual Vacancy – Treswithian Ward

Camborne Town Council is seeking to co-opt a new Councillor for the Treswithian Ward.
Any person wishing to be considered for co-option should in the first instance apply in writing using the application form (below). Submit completed forms by email to townclerk@camborne-tc.gov.uk or by post to FAO Deputy Town Clerk, The Passmore Edwards Building, The Cross, Cross Street, Camborne, TR14 8HA before 9am on Monday 24th November 2025. 
Applicants will be invited to attend a meeting of Full Council at 6.30pm on Thursday 4th December in order to give presentations. The co-option decision will be made in the public session of this meeting. Please read the Co-option Policy for further information on this process.
