Lowarth Holman

Holman Gardens

Camborne Town Council has acquired the Holman Gardens project from Cornwall Council to turn the large brownsite near Tesco into a green space in an important gateway for central Camborne. There will be an informal grassed amphitheatre with terraced lawns cut into existing slope and grassed banks between levels. A main path will be routed through area to provide access as well as natural surveillance. There will also be a central seating area, benches, Cornish hedging, plus planting of large canopy trees and pollution absorbing shrubs.

As the area is situated on the former Holman factory site, commemorating its industrial heritage is important. Through signage and interpretation boards and the strong links to the mining history of the town. We have received tender applications for bespoke artwork to be commissioned to reflect the area’s rich industrial and cultural heritage. These are currently being reviewed and will be decided on by Sept 2024. We will also be commissioning for bespoke interactive/ sculpture based artwork, ideally delivered through local artists/ craftspeople based on the history of Holmans Brothers. The development work started in July 2024, and is due to be completed and open to the public in April 2025.
