Camborne is set to celebrate a remarkable transformation as Holman Gardens, a once unused brownfield site, officially opens to the public with a free, family-friendly event on Saturday 16th August from 11:00AM to 3:00PM.
Originally earmarked for housing development, the site was left dormant for years, a neglected patch of land in the heart of town. Now, thanks to community vision and support from the Camborne Town Deal, the space has been completely reimagined as a beautiful public garden and vibrant community hub.
The Holman Gardens Grand Opening will mark the beginning of a new chapter for Camborne, turning an overlooked area into a welcoming green space for events, relaxation, and community gatherings.
The day will begin with an official opening ceremony at 11:00AM, featuring special guests including The High Sheriff of Cornwall, Geraint Richards, The Mayor of Camborne, Councillor James Ball, and former international rugby star and proud Cornishman Josh Matavesi, who will help cut the ribbon. The ceremony will be followed by a celebratory performance from Camborne Brass Band.
The event will include a fantastic mix of entertainment and activities for all ages:
- Live music and performances
- Free children’s entertainment including face painting, games, balloon animals, and a bouncy castle
- A children’s entertainer hosting fun and games throughout the day
- Family-friendly local stalls offering crafts, gifts, and sweet treats
- Delicious food and drink from local vendors
- And even more to enjoy at your own expense, should you choose!
This exciting new space is the first of its kind in Camborne… a town amphitheatre designed for the community to enjoy year-round. Holman Gardens is a symbol of regeneration, pride, and potential, and the Grand Opening will celebrate that spirit in full.
Everyone is welcome, and no booking or RSVP is needed. Bring your friends, family, neighbours and colleagues and help us give this brilliant new space the launch it deserves.
