John Harris Society AGM at Troon Methodist Church on Saturday, 15th March 2025 at 2.00pm, followed by a talk by Pol Hodge, recently Grand Bard and a Troon boy.

Due to the weather forecast we have made the decision to move our St Piran’s Day event inside Camborne Library, so it will still be going ahead, just out of the wind!

Will Keating will be performing between 11am and 1pm, there’ll be free pasties, kids crafts, and stalls (and fantastic coffee and cake).

We hope to see you there!

The Journey to ‘Awenva’ Begins!

We have some great news to share with you in the week of Cornwall’s St Pirans Day celebrations!

On Tuesday 4th March, we marked an exciting milestone as we officially handed over the keys to the former Basset School and White House, kickstarting the transformation of this historic site into Awenva – Camborne’s new community hub!

We’re pleased to welcome Classic Builders SW Ltd on-site as they begin the enabling works, preparing the space for its full redevelopment. This crucial first phase includes clearing, securing, and carrying out initial structural work to set the groundwork for the exciting transformation ahead.

Once complete, Awenva will be a vibrant home for:

  • The town library
  • A café & social space
  • Community rooms for hire
  • Heritage & cultural displays

The main construction works will be going out to tender very soon, and we’ll keep you updated every step of the way. For now, we celebrate this huge first step towards bringing Awenva to life!

After the sad cancellation of the Children’s Christmas Lantern Parade in November, we have tried to find a way in which the lanterns can still be displayed, so that they can be enjoyed by families and friends. Please come along to the Wesley Chapel (Chapel Street) on Tuesday 4th March between 3:30pm and 6:30pm to enjoy refreshments, an art exhibition from Cornwall College, and the lanterns displayed and lit in all their glory.

This is event is open to all, more information on the schools involved in the coming days here and across our social media platforms.
