Camborne’s Christmas Lights were switched on last Friday following a fabulous day of performances in the square by acts including: Hotch Potch Performance stilt walkers, dancing by the TR14’ers, plus music from Bryher’s Boys, The Ukuhayles, Jumping Out and Holman-Climax Male Voice Choir, not forgetting Santa Claus who arrived on a special sleigh to greet all the young boys and girls of Camborne. The lights were switched on by a very special guest, Louis a four year old who was born with half a heart and has undergone three open heart surgeries. Louis’s mum, Jodie is a coordinator for heartheroescornwall, a charity that supports both children and families affected by lifelong heart conditions.
The event was organised by Camborne BID and facilitated by Camborne Town Council. Unfortunately the Children’s Lantern Parade that was due to occur on the same evening had to be cancelled due to the forecasts of high winds and rain. We’re very sorry about the cancellation of the parade and we’re working to arrange an opportunity for the lanterns to go on display in early 2025, as we really want to celebrate the amazing creations that have been lovingly made this year by the schools and colleges.
