We wanted to share an update on the Holman Gardens project with our community following the recent questions and concerns raised.
Unfortunately, the work is currently on hold following the recent bereavement of the director of the contractor team. This has understandably caused delays, and our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to everyone affected during this very difficult time.
We know how much people have been looking forward to seeing Holman Gardens transformed, and we want to reassure you that the project has not been forgotten. Behind the scenes, we are reviewing the next steps and exploring options to move forward legally and appropriately at this stage.
There are contracts in place which mean we are unable to enter or carry out work on the site ourselves, and understandably, these processes take time to resolve.
In the meantime, we appreciate your patience, understanding, and kindness as we allow those directly involved the space they need. We will continue to keep you informed and will share further updates as soon as we have them.
Thank you for your ongoing support.

We’re delighted to announce that planning permission has now been granted for the redevelopment of Park Gerry… a major step forward in creating an exciting new community space for Camborne.

The approved plans, backed by funding from Camborne’s Town Deal, will transform Park Gerry into a vibrant, inclusive, and accessible green space with facilities designed for all ages.

What’s included in the plans?

The regeneration project will deliver a host of improvements and new features, including:

  • A purpose-built skate park, co-designed with local young people
  • A modern multi-use games area (MUGA) for sports like football and basketball
  • A brand-new community pavilion, with flexible indoor space for events and changing facilities
  • Refreshed green spaces, footpaths, seating, and landscaping
  • A reinstated football pitch for grassroots sport and local matches

These exciting developments are designed to bring people together through play, activity, and connection, creating a welcoming and safe space in the heart of the community.

What happens next?

With planning permission now secured, behind-the-scenes work is underway to put the right structures in place to deliver the project. While we don’t yet have a confirmed timeline, a project overview and estimated schedule is available on our website for those who’d like to follow the progress.

We’re committed to delivering this important project with care, quality, and community at its heart and we’ll be sharing updates as things move forward.

For now, we’re celebrating this major milestone and thanking everyone involved in helping us reach it. Park Gerry is about to begin a whole new chapter and we can’t wait to see what it brings for Camborne.

Camborne is set to celebrate a remarkable transformation as Holman Gardens, a once unused brownfield site, officially opens to the public with a free, family-friendly event on Saturday 16th August from 11:00AM to 3:00PM.

Originally earmarked for housing development, the site was left dormant for years, a neglected patch of land in the heart of town. Now, thanks to community vision and support from the Camborne Town Deal, the space has been completely reimagined as a beautiful public garden and vibrant community hub.

The Holman Gardens Grand Opening will mark the beginning of a new chapter for Camborne, turning an overlooked area into a welcoming green space for events, relaxation, and community gatherings.

The day will begin with an official opening ceremony at 11:00AM, featuring special guests including The High Sheriff of Cornwall, Geraint RichardsThe Mayor of Camborne, Councillor James Ball, and former international rugby star and proud Cornishman Josh Matavesi, who will help cut the ribbon. The ceremony will be followed by a celebratory performance from Camborne Brass Band.

The event will include a fantastic mix of entertainment and activities for all ages:

  • Live music and performances
  • Free children’s entertainment including face painting, games, balloon animals, and a bouncy castle
  • A children’s entertainer hosting fun and games throughout the day
  • Family-friendly local stalls offering crafts, gifts, and sweet treats
  • Delicious food and drink from local vendors
  • And even more to enjoy at your own expense, should you choose!

This exciting new space is the first of its kind in Camborne… a town amphitheatre designed for the community to enjoy year-round. Holman Gardens is a symbol of regeneration, pride, and potential, and the Grand Opening will celebrate that spirit in full.

Everyone is welcome, and no booking or RSVP is needed. Bring your friends, family, neighbours and colleagues and help us give this brilliant new space the launch it deserves.

Holman Gardens, Camborne (next to Camborne Tesco Petrol Station)

Come and be part of Camborne’s next chapter — we can’t wait to see you there!

We are excited to share the intricate metalwork designs created by Create CIC that will be installed at the four main entrances of Holman Gardens, a brand-new green space in Camborne. These designs have been carefully created to celebrate our town’s rich history, strong sense of community, and bright future.

A Gateway to Camborne’s Story

Each entrance will feature a unique metalwork installation, reflecting different aspects of Camborne’s identity:

Camborne’s Future – Representing innovation, growth, and the town’s aspirations for the years ahead. This piece symbolises progress while embracing the natural beauty of Holman Gardens.

Connected Camborne – A tribute to the strong community ties that make Camborne special. This design emphasises the importance of togetherness, heritage, and the shared experiences of those who call this town home.

Industrial Camborne – Honouring the town’s engineering and mining legacy, this design is inspired by Camborne’s deep-rooted industrial past, from the world-renowned Holman Brothers to the innovation that shaped Cornwall’s history.

Camborne’s Past – A reflection on the town’s historical roots, celebrating the traditions, craftsmanship, and hardworking spirit that define Camborne’s identity.

A Space for Everyone

Holman Gardens has been designed to be more than just a green space—it will be a place of relaxation, connection, and discovery. These metalwork installations will serve as welcoming entry points, inviting residents and visitors alike to enjoy the beautiful surroundings, walking paths, and seating areas.

By blending art, history, and nature, we aim to create a meaningful space that pays tribute to Camborne’s past while looking ahead to the future. Whether you’re stopping by to unwind, explore, or reflect, Holman Gardens will offer something special for everyone.

Stay Updated

As we move forward with the development of Holman Gardens, we will continue to share updates on progress and key milestones. We can’t wait for you to experience this exciting transformation of the space.

As you may have seen on our Facebook page, Create CIC have been successful in their tender application to design the artwork for the entrance ways for the site and also the detailing around the seating area (marked out with red circles in the image). They will be looking to arrange public consultations for ideas about the designs. Keep an eye out on their socials for further updates.
The building of walls around the site are now completed. You may have noticed a section with no wall on the Tesco’s side. We will be planting shubbs in this section to complete the barrier.
The footpaths are starting to take shape on the east side with the tarmac base going in next week. The soil on this side will be levelled out and the contractors will be making a start on the planting of the wildflowers and hedging next week also. Once the majority of the works on the east side has been completed, they will look to continue on the west side.
The project is still on track to be completed by April 2025. As a reminder, there will be another announcement regarding the naming of the site towards the end of October. We will continue to keep you updated throughout the process
